ePortfolios + SLCC = $$$$

You’ve heard about ePortfolios at SLCC, correct?

If not, here’s a quick blurb about ePortfolios (click this link for even more information):

  • ePortfolio helps students step ahead by providing a place to archive, reflect upon, and share their best work with faculty, scholarship committees or anyone else.
  • ePortfolios can be used to showcase the entirety of an academic career.
  • In addition to building a General Education ePortfolio, students may choose to create a second, career-specific ePortfolio to help impress potential employers.
  • Creating an ePortfolio is free.

Here’s info on the scholarships available to students who learn and then *do* their ePortfolios!

Who is this tuition waiver for?

This tuition waiver program is intended to showcase the educational efforts of under represented student at SLCC, and to help them attain their educational goals by rewarding them with a one-semester tuition waiver.

How will a recipient be selected?

The selection committee will base its decision on a review of the applicants’ ePortfolios and the required short essay.

What’s an “under represented” student?

ethnic minority

economic need

first generation college student

single parent with dependent child

english as a second language

And here’s information on scholarships and tuition waivers in general.

Deadlines are still open!

Don’t miss out on documenting your learning experience aka your academic career! (Treat it like a job and it will pay you back like one!)

You might put yourself in the runnings for a waiver!

Welcome to Fall 2014!

Hello and a Happy Fall Semester to you!

What’s new in the Diversity and Multicultural Affairs Office? A lot!

We have a “Special Assignment Director” who will be sharing a welcome letter soon.

We want to have the blog up and running so that students have access to the most current information as well as commentary related to multicultural and diversity issues on campus.

We will also be sharing information that is relevant to successful student engagement on campus – whether it’s through job announcements, job fairs, work study positions, tuition waivers or scholarship information, tutoring, study groups…. you name it, our goal is to help you gain access to it.

We will be discussing current matters on campus and sharing insights from students on each of our campuses about multiculturalism and diversity such as events, discussions, forums, activities, and social gatherings.

In short, stay tuned! This will be an exciting semester.
